Change has been sweeping through the Australian photo book industry lately. Some organisations have completely closed up shop (R.I.P. Momento), while others have packed up their local operations (farewell Photobox). And yep, even Cahoots has had to deal with unplanned changes. Our trusty Perth photo imaging house recently let us know they can no longer meet our super-specific needs.

So, what does this mean for you, our valued Cahoots customers? Well, for starters, it justifies our recent switch to commercial photo book design software that’s not tied to Cahoots itself. Customers of defunct photo book suppliers are now stuck with unsubmitted book files they can’t get printed anywhere else. Yikes! (And if they can, the pages are likely watermarked – double yikes!)

But here’s the good news: with our support for commercial design software like YouDesign, your book designs are future-proof. You can always export high-res PDFs or JPGs without restriction. If you’re looking for something more budget-friendly, we still have our free browser-based tool, Cinch. In fact, over the years, 95% of the books we’ve produced could easily have been designed with the straight forward functionality that Cinch offers.

Secondly, we’ve done the hard yards, and after rigorous research and testing we’ve partnered with three leading photo book suppliers to bring you the best balance of quality, value, and features. Because let’s face it, more than ever, everyone’s needs and priorities are not the same. That’s why we’re now offering an expanded product range.

EVERYDAY Books: Our high quality, traditionally bound books continue to offer great value for money. They take about 3+ weeks and get delivered right to your door (postage included).

Regular LAYFLAT Books: We’ve had to say goodbye to our hinged layflats, but don’t stress – we’ve replaced them with something even better! Our new layflat books use thick 300gsm panoramic paper. No more weird page misalignments – just pure, seamless spreads. Compared to our discontinued hinged layflats, these books are also a little easier on your wallet and typically take 2 weeks plus delivery time (if you opt for postage – otherwise pickup for free). Just a heads up: there’ll be a tiny white crease in the middle of the spread if your content spans both pages, but it’s a small trade-off for the upgrade to heavyweight panoramic paper that sits perfectly flat.

PREMIUM LAYFLAT Books: Now, if you want to go all out, we’re proud to introduce our premium layflat range. These superior quality books are printed on even heavier 400gsm panoramic paper, so go ahead and spread your images across both pages without any visual discontinuity. Plus, you can design a printed cover or choose from 15 fabrics, and even get your fabric covers imprinted with foil lettering or a photo inset. Want to make it extra special? You can order a matching fabric slip cover too!
